Is Sharpley Golf Club the first golf club in the country to stock the King of Soho Gin? It can now be found at the 19th hole!

Carole Weightman, Director of Sharpley Golf Club, is the sister of Alex Robson who co-founded West End Drinks with Howard Raymond to launch this new premium drinks brand.

Alex was born in Sunderland and educated at Durham High School; she is the daughter of a local doctor and county councillor, the late Dr Bill Robson.

Alex, Director of West End Drinks reveals:

We launched on the 1st October 2013 with a Distilled London Dry Gin. The King of Soho Gin is a tribute to Howard’s legendary father Paul Raymond, the impresario turned property tycoon revolutionised the district of Soho and became affectionately known as ’The King of Soho ’.

Carole attended the launch held at the Union Club in Soho:

It was a wonderful event, we met many interesting people including James Whale, who used to have a  late night show on Metro Radio and Howard’s brother Derry and his wife. It’s a premium gin in a beautiful bottle and it makes a delicious maritni”

Alex said:

“It is a privilege to be able to bring such a great gin home, like Howard’s father our father was a great one for a gin & tonic  – as anyone who knew Dr Bill Robson would testify to!

London is now driving an international renaissance of gin and fittingly The King of Soho Gin is quadruple distilled in the heart of London. Crafted with 12 selected botanicals to our flavour profile, the Gin is bespoke, smooth and full-bodied – soft on the juniper with unusually high citrus notes.

It is complex yet harmonious and ideal for cocktails and drinks where the Spirit is King!”

The King of Soho London Dry Gin has appointed Hi-Spirits as its UK distributor; one of the leading drinks distribution companies in the UK.

Originally a hunting ground, Paul Raymond helped Soho to become an area rich in creativity, music, art and modern culture. These elements are captured in the beautiful design of the bottle.

Alex says:

“The King of Soho Gin is a celebration of the Spirit of Soho, a place where anything goes and this Spirit can be celebrated by anyone, anywhere”

“We are all King amongst Friends”
